New ProSymes Foot
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA February 2, 2005 Otto Bock Health Care announced the release of a new prosthetic foot for Symes amputees. The foot is called the 1C20 ProSymes and is engineered to resolve the unique challenges that prosthetists face when fitting a Symees amputee. The key innovation in this foot is a spherical sliding block that is built in the foot plate that allows you to adjust the alignment of the foot during trial fitting and even after the prosthesis has been completed. The 1C20 ProSymes foot can be adjusted in the anterior/posterior and medial/lateral directions plus or minus 6 degrees, with rotation of plus or minus 30 degrees.
At 43 mm, the 1C20 ProSymes also addresses the clearance issues that Symees amputees face. If a spacer plate is attached, this foot can accommodate amputees with clearances higher than 52 mm without affecting the alignment adjustment possibilities. The foot is constructed of bonded carbon fiber and urethane, delivering outstanding performance and reliability.
The 1C20 ProSymes is a great time and effort saving advancement for practitioners who fit Symes amputees. Said Kristin Knox, Market Manager for Prosthetic Feet and Knees. It allows them to create reproducible and continuously adjustable alignment settings between the foot and socket before, during, and after fitting their patients.
