Otto Bock Unveils New C-Leg® With Added Features

9/20/2006

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA September 20, 2006 – Otto Bock introduced a new version of the C-Leg microprocessor knee, which offers features designed to give wearers more independence!

Responding to suggestions from people who use the C-Leg and prosthetists who fit the C-Leg, the new features include:

  • A standing mode that gives wearers the ability to easily lock the C-Leg at a variety of flexion angles so patients can relax while standing
  • A handheld remote to switch between modes
  • Adapting Swing Phase Dynamics for slight adjustments to swing flexion resistances without the hassle of an office visit

In recognition of the C-Leg’s quality, it won the da Vinci award for exceptional design and engineering from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The award recognizes outstanding innovations that help people with disabilities.

Since it was introduced in 1997, the C-Leg changed the prosthetic industry by delivering a new level of technology and function to amputees.

“Our goal with these improvements was to raise the level of performance to the C-Leg that has been known for its quality and reliability. We’ve accomplished that with the added features offering the patient more independence without compromising the stability they depend on,” said Kristen Knox, Market Manager – Lower Extremity Prosthetics.
