Shriner’s Hospital - Mexico City First to Be Certified for OB Shape System
Armando Terrones and Gloria Trinidad, Physical Therapist, are the first rehabilitation professionals in Mexico to successfully complete Otto Bock HealthCare’s training certification for the Otto Bock Shape System (OBSS), a CAD-based system designed to fabricate custom seating systems for individuals with severe physical disabilities. Both the National Registry of Rehab Technology Suppliers (NRTTS) and the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) continuing education programs recognize the OBSS instruction course. For the training, Terrones and Trinidad traveled to Otto Bock America’s headquarters in Minneapolis, and were joined by Rick Benzing, Certified Prosthetist, from Otto Bock’s Mexico City office.
“There is no question that off-the-shelf seating cannot address the needs of all patients. I applaud Armando and Gloria for challenging themselves to find better solutions for disabled children in Mexico,” said course instructor, John Phillips, a Certified Assistive Technology Supplier.
Terrones and Trinidad both work at Shriner’s Hospital in Mexico City, Mexico where Terrones supervises a team of professionals to develop prosthetic, orthotic, and seating components for disabled pediatric clients. Trinidad is a certified Physical Therapist working in the areas of seating and respiratory care. The hospital in Mexico City serves thousands of disabled children every year.
