ThermoLyn Thermoplastics

Otto Bock's polyethylene and polypropylene products are proven performers for the orthotic and prosthetic field. Our commitment to quality results in highly stable thermoforming materials. It begins with the resin: only selected resin suppliers are used; the homopolymer used is sourced from a single supplier. Every finished lot is traceable from beginning to end.

Computer-controlled processing technology ensures consistently processed sheets. It features in-line stress relieving techniques as well as in-line monitoring to verify color, gloss, gauge, flatness and surface aesthetics. Random audits after processing serve as a final check to ensure the predictable quality you have come to expect.

ThermoLyn® Thermoplastics offer your business proven Otto Bock quality, service and support, all at a competitive price. Sheet size and thickness combinations vary with each material. Please contact Otto Bock directly for details.

ThermoLyn® LDPE

This low density polyethylene material is very flexible and has a low coefficient of friction, making it particularly suitable to form tongues on body jackets or thigh lacers - and to create flexible upper limb sockets and orthoses. ThermoLyn® LDPE, #616T40, can be ordered in sheet sizes of 24x48 or 48x48, and thicknesses of 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", or 1/4".

ThermoLyn® Stiff

ThermoLyn® Stiff is an excellent material for creating dynamic test sockets, as it offers an unprecedented combination of clarity, thermoformability, rigidity, and toughness. It is used to produce the exclusive Otto Bock E.T.S. CADCAM test sockets. For interim use, any Otto Bock three-prong adapter may be bolted directly to the material for dynamic walking trials. ThermoLyn® Stiff, #616T52, can be ordered in 3 thicknesses (5/16", 3/8", or 1/2") and has a sheet size of 16x16.

ThermoLyn® HDPE (PE2OO)

This high density polyethylene material has a low coefficient of friction combined with surprising rigidity, yet it can be thermally remolded for local modifications. It is typically used to create rigid orthoses for the trunk and limbs.ThermoLyn® HDPE (PE2000), #616T9, is available in 2 sheet sizes, 24"x48" or 48"x48", and these thicknesses: 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8".

ThermoLyn® Polypro (PP Homopolymer)

This translucent polypropylene material is ideal for a broad variety of orthotic and prosthetic applications where durability and thermoformability are paramount. Commonly used for lower limb orthoses and seating systems, this "living hinge" material is the most durable choice for dorsiflexion assist AFO's and similar dynamic structures.ThermoLyn® Polypro, #616T20, is available in, 16"x16" 24"x48" and 48"x48" sheet sizes and these thicknesses: 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8".

ThermoLyn® Co-Poly (PP Copolymer)

This opaque polypropylene alloy combines toughness with increased flexibility. It is often used to create definitive or preparatory upper and lower limb prosthetic sockets, various body jackets and spinal supports, and a variety of non-weightbearing lower and upper limb orthoses. Its cold flow characteristics make it unsuitable for "leaf spring" designs such as dorsiflexion AFO's. ThermoLyn® Co-Poly, #616T57, is available in 3 sheet sizes and a variety of thicknesses.
