1C40 C-Walk Foot
Comfort or Energy Restoration?
Get Both with the Otto Bock 1C40 C-Walk

Patients want a prosthetic foot that provides true comfort. Yet they don't want to sacrifice a high degree of dynamic response. Now there's a way to maximize both benefits
Otto Bock's 1C40 C-Walk is a unique carbon fiber foot that combines comfort with dynamic response and multi-axial rotation. First, the C-element cushions the foot for a comfortable heel strike. Next, the stored energy in the C-element is released to facilitate a smooth roll-over to mid-stance. As the forefoot loading increases, the C-spring element loads again along with the base spring.
This energy is returned at toe-off to assist in initiating swing phase. Finally, regardless of the patient loading or activity level, an integrated control ring that connects the C-element to the base plate regulates the spring characteristics during gait.
Comfort & Energy |
Because of the interior contouring, even the thin-walled cosmetic foot shell is functional part of this foot.
The 1C40 C-Walk foot was developed in cooperation with the French Corima company.
More Comfortable - More Flexible - More Efficient |
The 1C40 C-WALK was developed for a broad range of applications. This foot is recommended for patients with moderate to high functional levels with loading up to 100 kg /220 lbs. Transtibial amputees who are highly active and those with efficient knee joint constructions will especially appreciate the 1C40's benefits. The foot is ideal for walking on various types of terrain and at various speeds. It's also ideal for use in leisure sport activities.

Function: |
During stance phase, the control ring proportionally adjusts the softer C-spring to the more rigid base spring. Since this feature proportionally controls the resistance from roll-over to forefoot, there is little reason to adjust the spring stiffness according to the loading and activity level.
Alignment Recommendation: |
For 26 to 28 mm foot sizes, the mid-foot is positioned 15 mm anterior to the weight-bearing line. Intended heel height: 10 mm. The construction allow for barefoot walking, as well.
