Rheuma Flex Wrist Support #4024
The 4024 wrist support is made of a special, comfortable material that breathes. The convenient closure design on the dorsal side offers a solution for patients with difficulty using a traditional hook and loop closure. The palmar side splint included is the Otto Bock Dynamic Hand Splint 4000 in medium stability (Red). It is preshaped to 20° and provides a more functional stability than traditional metal splints. The very thin "tongue" material that reduces the risk for pressure is another unique design feature.
Indications
Osteoarthrosis, arthritis, instabilities and other injuries to the wrist.

Instructions For 4024 Rheuma Flex Wrist Support
- Choose the correct size and test it on the patient to ensure a good fit. Affix the hook and loop closures. Note that the double stitching on the ends of the elastic straps prevents them from pulling free. The dorsal closure has been designed for patients who have trouble with a standard closure.
- To adjust to the splint, place it in a cup filled with hot water 170° - 180°F Make sure that the area of the splint that you want to adjust is fully covered with water. Wait 45 seconds to one minute for the splint to soften before carefully removing it from the water. Warning: Be careful not to burn yourself when working with the hot water!
- Adjust the splint as desired and immerse it in cold water for 30 seconds. Then try it on the patient. If further adjustments are necessary, make sure to only heat the part of the splint that needs to be adjusted. Never apply a hot splint directly to the patient's skin as it might lead to a burn injury! If it's necessary to make adjustments directly on the patient, use a stockinette to cover the skin.
The splint has a built-in memory. If fully reheated, it will go back to its original 20° position.
- The Otto Bock Dynamic Hand Splints are available in 3 different levels for optimal stability. The patient might start out in one splint, which easily can be exchanged if more or less stability is needed. The different stability levels are:
Yellow | Low Stability, soft splint | Model No.4002 | Red | Medium stability | Model No.4000 | Blue | High stability, rigid splint | Model No.4001 | Aluminum stays bent to 5-15° are also available: Aluminum Model No.4003
All splints are sold in 5-packs. | |
