Instructions For 4088 Wristoform™

  1. Try the support on the patient for size.

  2. Place the thermoplastic insert (A) into the pocket of the support (B).

  3. Pour hot water (170-180° F) into the pocket; one cup is usually enough. Fill up the pocket completely and wait for about one minute, making sure the plastic has turned soft. Caution: Be careful when pouring the hot water into the pocket.

  4. Pour out the water. Place the support flat on a towel. Carefully blot away the moisture. Important: Do not apply the support to the patient when it's wet as it might lead to a burn injury. Patients with sensitive skin should wear a stockinette during application.

  5. Apply the support to the wrist. Next, tighten the wide wrist strap then tighten the narrow upper strap. Make sure the thermoplastic forms over the caput ulna without wrinkling. If wrinkles occur, try to stretch the material slightly. The splint can also be adjusted by using hot water. Adjust the splint as desired and immerse it in cold water to set its position.

  6. For best results, the patient should keep the support on while waiting for the plastic to set (usually 3-4 minutes.) If adjustments are necessary, let the support cool completely before pulling open the pocket. Then start over from Step # 3.

Washing Instructions

Attach hook & loop closures before washing. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Let air dry.
