We’ve taken two of our best prosthetic solutions—the Triton carbon fiber foot and the Harmony volume management solution—and combined them to make one of the best below-knee prostheses available.

By improving linkage with your leg, Harmony improves your gait and increases security, while the Triton foot, with its split toe and shock-absorbing functional ring, handles any lumps and bumps you find along your way.

And to work with other prosthetic feet and even above-knee systems, Harmony is also available in the form of the P3 mechanical pump (see accessories).

Do you have a problem with your prosthesis? We’ve got the solution!

Is your prosthesis ever uncomfortable? Does your socket seem to get looser over the course of the day? Does your leg feel poorly ‘connected’ to your prosthesis?

These issues can come from volume changes in the socket and—just like a shoe that’s the wrong size—can lead to painful skin problems that limit your activities.

The style of socket can make things worse for some users. Conventional Specific Weight Bearing Sockets can cause fluid loss by forcing fluids out of the limb during walking, while simultaneously reducing the surface area that distributes pressures.

To make up for the changes in limb volume, many users add socks to their residual limb during the day—but this doesn’t get to the root of the problem: the loss of fluid and volume fluctuations.

A Specific Weight Bearing Socket can force fluids out of the limb, changing the limb volume.

The Harmony solution can include a socket, the liner (between your leg and the socket), the Harmony functional ring, and the Triton carbon fiber foot. They all add up to incredible comfort!

Intimate fit begins with the right socket…

Conventional sockets force your leg to conform to the shape of the socket, and can create pressure peaks in sensitive areas. A TSWB (Total Surface Weight Bearing) socket on the other hand, supports your weight with its entire surface, instead of just on the edge or at the bottom.

It’s like the difference between walking in a shoe that fits perfect versus a shoe two sizes too big; even if you add enough socks, it will feel sloppy and may cause blistering.

Our Anatomic 3D PUR liner (made from PolyURethane) distributes pressures in your socket to create a precise and comforable fit. It adds comfort and increases connection no matter how active you are.

Add to the TSWB socket the Harmony’s elevated vacuum, and you’ll find that your leg is drawn more completely into the custom socket. This creates a more intimate fit, and allows fluids to be more easily drawn back into your limb when you’re walking.

  • Enhanced connection, or ‘linkage’ will help you feel where your leg is in space (proprioception),

Handle any bumps in the road: torsion and shock absorber

At the heart of elevated vacuum is the Harmony functional ring. The ring acts as a pump with intake and exhaust valves to create the elevated vacuum. It also provides shock absorption and can even twist while you’re loading it—just like a real ankle.

  • How do I know if the Harmony Triton system is right for me?

    The Harmony Triton system is suitable for high activity users up to 330 lbs. Talk to your prosthetist about the Harmony System and if it’s right for you.

  • Can patients buy directly from Ottobock?

    Except for certain products available at www.mobilitydirect.com, patients cannot purchase products directly from Ottobock. Ottobock products are generally prescribed by physicians or clinicians, who provide the product to the patient.

  • What does a Harmony Triton system cost? How do I get the cost covered?

  • Who should use Harmony Triton system?

    The Triton feet are recommended for people of all ages with normal to high levels of activity. The feet are suitable for various walking speeds and surfaces, thus allowing both comfortable everyday walking and leisure sports activities.

  • Can I use the Harmony Triton system for sports?

    The Triton feet are suitable for use in common activities such as jogging, ball sports and cycling. The added shock absorption and rotational movement of the Triton VS and Triton Harmony® are great for sporting activities involving jumping and fast movements.

  • Can I also use the Triton Harmony system as part of a transfemoral prosthesis?

    Yes! The Triton feet are suitable for all amputation levels with the required build height. In transfemoral prostheses, the Triton feet work particularly well with the Otto Bock 3R95 and 3R80 knee joints as well as the microprocessorcontrolled C-Leg® and Genium knee joints. Your prosthetist might check if the use of a Triton Harmony® makes sense, as the tube connection between socket and foot gets quite long.

  • Is there a version of the Harmony Triton for me?

    All Triton feet are available in a range of sizes and body weights up to 150 kg (330 lbs). The prosthetist will fine-tune the foot by selecting one of the supplied heel wedges. You just need to decide if the added shock and rotation features of the Triton Vertical Shock or in addition the elevated vacuum function of the Triton Harmony® foot are right for you.

  • How does the Triton Harmony® create an Elevated Vacuum environment?

    The hollow functional ring with valves of the Triton Harmony® creates vacuum during each step when the ring is compressed and released. Air is removed from the system through a tube connecting the foot and sealed socket creating the elevated vacuum environment.

  • Do I need a new prosthesis to use the Triton?

    It depends. The Triton Harmony foot can be integrated into many newer and older modular prosthesis systems if they have the adequate build height..

    However, the elevated vacuum system may demand an new socket to accommodate the vacuum tubing that runs between the functional ring and the socket.

  • Do I need to wear special shoes with the Harmony Triton?

    No – the system is delivered with a footshell that is based on the shape of a natural foot. Alternatively, you can order a slim footshell that is suitable for use with shoes with a slight heel rise. Both versions allow you to wear thong sandals.

  • Where can I find more information on the Harmony Triton family of products?
