Improving Custom Seating with New 3D Scanning Technology

The Sense 3D Scanner’s hand held state -of-the-art technology will revolutionize the way Ottobock captures molds for OBSS Custom Seating.

Austin, TX - April 1, 2016 - Ottobock of Austin, Texas announced today that it is adopting 3D Systems of Rock Hill, South Carolina’s latest 3D Scanning technology, the Sense 3D Scanner for its OBSS Custom Seating system. 3D Systems was the first to commercialize 3D printing in 1989 and pioneered scan-based design in 2006 with its patented Geomagic Design X(XOR) software. Ottobock is the industry leader in Custom Seating Solutions for people with mobility challenges and was the first company to embrace digital image capture for Custom Contoured Seating.

The Sense 3D Scanner’s hand held state -of-the-art technology will revolutionize the way Ottobock captures molds for OBSS Custom Seating. This newly adopted process is less prone to human error and faster than previous technology making it the ideal method for accurate and efficient image capture.

The new 3D scanning system will be used to capture the molds of Ottobock’s custom seating and will continue to be manufactured in Salt Lake City with no added charge to customers.
