Addition of bebionic multi-articulated hand strengthens Ottobock’s position as the leader in upper limb prosthetics

AUSTIN, Texas (May 1, 2017) – Ottobock Healthcare announced it is now distributing the bebionic hand after acquiring bebionic prosthetic products and related business from the British med-tech company Steeper in February.

Pioneering technology and an innovative design have been combined to make the bebionic hand one of the most lifelike and easy-to-use multi-articulating prosthetic hands available. The bebionic hand provides 14 different grip patterns, offering versatility to amputees while assisting them in their daily activities.

The bebionic hands are available in three sizes and include one of four wrist options to suit individual needs. Available options include the EQD (electric quick disconnect) wrist, the Short wrist to accommodate a long residual limb / wrist disarticulations as well as the Multi-flex and Flexion wrist, which allow an enhanced range of wrist motion.

“We are so pleased to expand our portfolio of upper limb solutions,” said Brad Ruhl, President of US Healthcare and North America Prosthetics for Ottobock. “bebionic’s revolutionary design and technology allows Ottobock to meet the progressive needs of today’s upper limb amputee.”

Comfortable, intuitive and precise at the same time, the bebionic hand is the culmination of years of development and collaboration with upper limb amputees. The bebionic hand is now available from Ottobock in the United States and Canada.
